For the film “Flight: Close to the Sun” Rain trained for 7 months as a real pilot. Rain stated, “For 7 months I felt like I was in the military. The hardest thing was not getting anything to eat. When you are in the military you have to eat whenever you get the chance.” Rain will actually enter into his military service in October. The fact that before going into the military, he actually appeared in a movie where he is portrayed as being in the military gained a lot of attention. Rain also stated, “The moment I read the script I liked it, I was charmed by the character named ‘Tae Hoon.’ While acting in the U.S. I felt a bit lonely and really wanted to appear in a film where I acted in Korean. Also, it was great because I had the chance to act with other actors/actresses that I wanted to work with.” Rain continued, “There were times when I almost feinted. I am a bit claustrophobic but I still gave a lot of the different tests a shot. I am very happy that I had the chance to appear in a great movie with great actors/actresses.”
“Flight: Close to the Sun” is currently in Production, the film is a remake of “The Red Muffler” that came out in 1964.

We inform you that the venue for the 2011 Gangnam Hanryu Festival has been changed Hi, this is J.Tune Camp. The venue for the 2011 Gangnam Hanryu Festival, hosted and arranged by Gangnam District and CJ, in which Rain is scheduled to participate upcoming October 11th, has been changed. 

The venue has been changed to the Yeongdong Grand Boulevard in front of COEX (or Korea Electric Power Corporation) in Samsung-dong due to the organizers’ unavoidable circumstances Please refer to the following.

1) The show is called : 2011 Gangnam Hanryu Festival.

2) Date : 9 October 2011 (Sun), at 7pm.

3) Location : Rain’ll give a live performance on a specially prepared stage on the Yeongdong Grand Boulevard in front of COEX (or Korea Electric Power Corporation) in Samsung-dong.

5) Host : Gangnam Culture Foundation.

【明報專訊】Rain is going to suspend his career as a pop star when autumn arrives. The dry season may plunge fans of Rain (Bi in Korean) into gloom because their idol will serve his two-year military service.
Rain, the stage name of Jeong Ji-hoon, is a moniker that reflects the melancholy life the Asian heart-throb had in his younger days. Having grown up in a poverty-stricken family, Rain surely knows how it feels to be hungry and to lose one’s loved ones due to financial difficulties. When he was 17, Rain lost his diabetic mother because his family lacked money to pay for her medication. There were rocky roads to his success. After he had discovered his talent and passion for dance, he trained and practised diligently as a back-up dancer for some years. He auditioned 18 times for entertainment companies only to be told that he was too ugly to become a star.

Rain’s hard work, together with a little luck, has proved those entertainment moguls wrong. Today, he should take pride in his status as a pop superstar, dazzling with showmanship on the stage and the screen. His luck turned when Bad Guy, his debut album released in 2002, was an instant success. It was followed by Full House, a Korean TV drama aired across Asia in 2004 and 2005, which won him acting and popularity awards and made “Rain” a household name all over Asia. By now Rain has starred in two Hollywood movies and given concerts in New York and Las Vegas. His shows invariably sell out in just a few hours because they are spectacular – showcasing his biggest hits and his well-muscled torso and showing how smooth he is on his feet!

Rain’s motto – “endless effort, endless humility, and endless modesty” – explains his legendary success and provides us with much food for thought. Indeed, we must persevere and keep our fighting spirit to weather life’s storms. Asked about putting his career on hold, Rain was positive and said he looked forward to toughening up during the mandatory military training. Living in the Sky, featuring Rain as a pilot and scheduled to be released in November, will serve as a “finale” when he bids us goodbye. His fans will certainly wait eagerly for his return.

The place is close to Seoul and is easy to get to.

1. By Bus

Typical route is No. 107 (blue bus)

You could take the bus in front of No. 4 Exit of Line 1 Jongno 5 Street Station.

Get off at Uijeongbu 306 Reserves Troop Station. No transfer is required and this is the easiest and cheapest means to get there.

Time required: about 1 hour 20 minutes.

2. By Train

Take the No. 1 Line and get off at either Uijeongbu Station or Hoe Ryong Station. Then take a taxi (fare approximately 5000 won)

If you get off at Uijeongbu Station, there is free shuttle bus service at west side of the city square (time required: approximately 20 minutes)

Alternatively

Take the No. 7 line, get off at Dobong san Station, then take the No. 107 bus and get off at Uijeongbu 306 Reserves Troop.

If you take a taxi there the fare is approximately 10,000 won.

3. By Taxi

It’s about 25km from Seoul proximity by taxi (maximum 4 people in a taxi). From Dongdaemun for example, the taxi fare is approximately 20,000 won (depending on traffic).

Time: from 10.30 am to 2 pm, Tuesday, 11 October

We expect many people to go there so it is advisable to allow ample travelling time for yourself.

For overseas fans, it is easy to get there by taxi. Just inform the driver 306 Reserves Troop (306보충대) which is commonly known.

There are many good restaurants in Uijeongbu. There is an alley famous for찌개 including a delicious 오뎅 restaurant.

Perhaps we could try to sooth our empty hearts with spicy food after seeing off Jihoon ssi….

Hi, we’re 8th term Cloud executive board. When ‘Kim Da Bin’ and I, 8th term official board members, visited the 306 replacemen depot on the 3rd where Rain is supposed to be called, we found that a space in front of the depot would be too small for Cloud members to stay (wait). According to the soldiers of the place, the number of raw recruits will mount up to about 2,000 only on the 11th when he will be called into the depot. In addition to this, there would be many of their family members and friends, so they totals about 12,000.  Therefore, we can’t expect anything like preferential treatment and must arrange  mutually convenient place for a final farewell to him. And, around the place has eating places along that narrow street, and meeting with hi near the street with many cars is very dangerous as below, so pay site selection is inevitable (restaurant). The owner of a newly opened restaurant has agreed to lend us their open area including a parking lot on condition that we buy lunch. If you agree with us, we try to decide.

[Advantage][★] The final farewell to him will go in an outdoor area. This area is just on the opposite of the entrance of the 306 replacement depot, so he can walk in the depot within 30 seconds as below.- It is not located at the curb, so safety is guaranteed. It is the largest open area (including a parking lot) there and can accommodate many people. Actor and singer Rain who is about to enter the army, held a charity concert in Japan’s Budokan, all four times through two days, twice a day, last 13th and 15th.
Rain who appeared amidst applausive acclamations, performed ‘Hip Song’ and ‘YOU’ with great moves at the beginning.  Following, he took a look back over his activities from his press conference in Japan in April 2004 to this concert, operating his iPad in person. He expressed, “Tokyo Dom concert in April 2007 is the most memorable one to me.”On a talk show during the concert, he created an atmosphere of cheerfulness, saying with wit, “I look handsome, especially when I check my full body after taking a shower, I dance, and when I stand on stage like this. I’ll be back after completing my military service for 2 years.” And he completed the show, singing, ‘Love Song’ and ‘Instead of Saying Goodbye’ The funds raised from his show will be used for the earthquake victims via The Japan Red Cross.
